The SPITFIRE BOUNCE and THE OTFORD 1940'S SWING DANCE will take you back to a time when during and after WWII people came together to have fun dancing, listening to the music of the era. To forget the worrie's of the day. We are attempting to bring back that wonderful community feeling of these dances so everyone can have a great time (like they all did back then). In doing this we are hoping to generate intyerest in the music, fashion and general friendliness of times gone by. Hoping that it will continue to become more and more popular with the younger generations of today. At all these dances you will receive a friendly and homely welcome, there will be FREE Tea, Coffee, Squash and Doughnuts. Most of the participaent also bring along some nibbles to put on the table that they are sitting at. This all leads to a great friendly party atmosphere for all involved.

 

Along with JEFF "TWO-TONE BOOGIE" working the decks we will also have TWO gueat DJ's at every dance, in doing so bringing you various styles of DJ'ing as well as music from the era. At our first dance (April 14th 2007) we had PAUL CROOK and NATASHA HALL (UK Lindy Hop Champions) giving a dance demonstration. There will be experienced dancers at each dance and if you want to learn to dance then just ask and they will be happy to share thier skill and knowledge with you. Alternativly you may wish to join one of the many dance classes that have flyers on our flyers table or listed on our Links page. Also on our flyers table and links page you will find many details of various dances/events/dance classes etc. There will also be stalls at each dance selling a wide range of goods from original/repro clothing, collectables, music etc etc.

 

You do not need to be an experienced dancer or have the correct clothing to come along to these dances. Just come along knowing that you will be welcomed and have a great night out.

 

In doing organising these dances we feel very proud that we are, with yourselves raising money for THE NOT FORGOTTEN ASSOCIATION who are a very worth-while charity helping all veterans of past and current wars.

 

All we want is for everyone who comes along to one of these dances to have a GREAT NIGHT

of DANCING, MUSIC and ATMOSPHERE.
