The SPITFIRE BOUNCE dances will take you back to the 1940s & early 1950s when during & after WW II people came together to have fun dancing & listening to music from that era. We are attempting be bring back the community feeling of these dances so everyone can have a great time (like they did back then). And in doing so we hope also to spread the music from those years, hoping it will become more & more popular with the younger generations of today. At all of our dances you will receive a homely welcome, there will also be FREE tea, coffee, squash & doughnuts. Most of the participants also bring some nibbles to put on the table that they are sitting at. This all leads to a great party & fun atmosphere for all involved.

We will have a different guest DJ at each dance, in doing so attempting to bring you various styles of DJ'ing and music from the era. At our first dance (April 14th 2007) we had PAUL & NATASHA (UK Lindy Hop Champions) giving a dance demonstration. There will be experienced dancers at all of these dances & if you want to learn to dance then just ask & they will be happy to share their skill & knowledge with you. Alternatively you may wish to join one of the many dance classes that are available, details of which can be found on our links page & from flyers at any of our dances, along with flyers advertising other dance/1940s based events. Our links page also has links to sites where you can purchase the relevent clothing etc. You do not have to be a dancer (of any level) to enjoy yourself at the events as everyone is made to feel welcome. We will have stalls selling original & repro clothing & accessories from the 1940s & 1950s. People coming to these events are encouraged to dress in either civilian or allied uniform from the era but this is not essential, if you do not have the clothing then you will be able to purchase it at one of these dances. If you want to know what clothing to wear you may either contact us by email or ask one of the particepants at these dances, we are all willing to help. At some of these events we will also have a re-enactment group putting on a table display of what they are about.

We just ask that you come to these dances knowing that you will have a great time.
